The Village of Cross Plains owns and maintains 25 acres of developed parks, including Municipal Park which features a swimming pool,playground, park shelter and picnic area. Baer Park has lighted ball diamonds, volleyball court, tennis court, playground, park shelter and picnic areas. There are five neighborhood parks with play equipment, landscaped area and open play area. The Village also owns 81 acres of conservancy park areas. Flowing through the Village of Cross Plains are the spring-fed headwaters of the world renowned Black Earth Creek, a high quality trout stream that attracts fly-fishers and other anglers from throughout the Midwest.
The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library was completed in 2006 and is a state-of-the-art "Green Built" structure, the first in the State of Wisconsin. Along with one of the top ranked school districts, Cross Plains is a great place to raise and nurture your children.
In 2007, Cross Plains was named the new headquarters of the Ice Age Trail Alliance. In the areas surrounding Cross Plains are Ice Age Trail hiking areas, on acreage donted by local landowners for preservation in perpetuity.
